Let me just avoid any confusion; it’s Meatloaf-on-a-Stick. Now that is out of the way lemme tell you where to find it. The Blue Barn, a venture by the Blue Plate Restaurant Company who started Highland Grill in 1993 and grew to include The Lowry, Longfellow Grill, Scusi, Groveland Tap, Edina Grill, 3 Squares Restaurant, Freehouse and soon to open, Bottle Rocket. What a mouthful (pun intended)! Needless to say, they know they’re doing. Located in the new area of the State Fair, West End, The Blue Barn has become a fast favorite. Serving up comfort food on a stick, they may be the most Minnesotan stop at the fair. Of course handing out our favorite beer (Lift Bridge), I was a fan of the Blue Cheese Corn Fritters and the Blueberry Basil Lemonade (thanks Brad!) while the guys couldn’t get enough of the Meatloaf. Its official – we couldn’t be more north country if we tried.
