This is a new one for the bucket list; the Minneapolis Holiday Market. It’s a replacement of the former Holidazzle parade (now the Holidazzle Village) in the Christmas, err, Holiday Market. I say that because of the fiasco about the stickers / mugs. They modeled this after the European Christmas Markets like Christkindlmarkt, complete with; live reindeer, a carousel, hot apple cider, warming houses, music,… My experience; the lines were extremely long, not well managed, and you do pay admission (that is considered a seasonal pass). I’ve been to a number of outdoor Christmas markets, both in Chicago and in Germany, and this is not a good representation of it. With very, very cramped quarters, it was difficult to navigate or even stop to enjoy anything. I warn that it was very expensive and likely not worth the trouble for most – as it is. I was there during the night, during a busier time. The idea of it is great, and I hope they continue to pursue it, but they need to hire better event / city planners because Minnesota is full of incredible culture and the atmosphere is really second to none.
