If you are headed into or out of Duluth, make a point to stop at the Sweetly Kismet Candy Store in Carlton.
Just off Interstate 35, alongside Kwik Trip, you will find an unassuming dirt road that leads to a big, beautiful white building.
While the building isn’t visible from the highway, its 4-foot by 40-foot sign on the roof can be seen by motorists on I-35.
Opened just over a year ago, Kismet has quickly become northern Minnesota’s largest candy store boasting 4,500 sq ft.
The open floor plan showcases rows and rows of confectionaries and sweetmeats, along with a vintage biplane that rests in a loft up above and a 1925 Model T Ford pickup truck in the middle of the floor.
There are over 1,000 different candy choices such as vintage candies such as Beeman’s gum, wax sticks, jawbreakers, Gold Nugget bubble gum, candy sticks, and bins of bulk candy, chocolate-everything, jerky, and 75 varieties of specialty soda.
Quickly becoming my go-to, Kismet has a ton of seasonal festivities.
You can reserve a hayride, pick up pumpkins while saying hello to Gracee the resident dog, and snag an Apple Cider or hot chocolate or fresh caramel apple for the road.
I picked up Granny Smith covered in caramel and Dots pretzels.
Have you made your way to Kismet yet?
