Since it was just National Margarita Day, I thought I would give you a place to go that makes a pretty good one. Oh! Fun fact: this #mnbucketlist stop is also a favorite hangout for my Dad. Acapulco Restaurante Mexicano, although sounds like a chain, isn’t. Owned by the Leon family, Jesus and Maria Leon and their nine children, Maria, Jose, Carlos, Alex, Sam, Veronica, Martin, Jesse and Lupita (I know, right?!), Acapulco has eight locations including Blaine, Coon Rapids, Maplewood, New Brighton, Ramsey, Stillwater, Woodbury and Ham Lake. They are known for their Chilaquiles and Churrasco Chicken but I went straight for the house made queso. I can’t help it, it’s one of the best. They are really fun too, and aren’t afraid to jump right in to conversation and keep you having a good time. All that, and margaritas the size of a fishbowl? I mean, what more can you ask for?
Looking for more Halloween things to do? Add the Fright Farm Haunted House in Maplewood to your Spooky Bucket List. Housed in the Ramsey County Poor Farm which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places having been built in 1918, the location alone is sure to send chills down your spine. The Haunted House, in its 19th year, is put on by the Ramsey County Sheriff’s department and certainly doesn’t disappoint.
As you wait in line, check out the water tower, ablaze with a frightening face and actors weaving through the crowds, looking to scare. When you get in, you are welcomed to Gladstone Insane Asylum where you can scream and laugh and panic, no-one will be the wiser! Lots of chills and thrills for the whole family. They also have games, a fun house and other festivities outside.
Every Friday and Saturday night 7-11pm in October, tickets are $10 and go to benefit the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Foundation to support programs, D.A.R.E and K-9. Don’t worry, the Fright Farm also has a family friendly low scare matinee for kids this Sunday from 12-4pm. Admission is $5 for all ages.

Jakes City Grille looks small from the outside but is really expansive and beautiful on the inside. I’m only talking about the Eden Prairie location as they have locations all over Minnesota; Eagan, Maplewood, Plymouth and Gull Lake. I highly recommend the flat breads, apple honey grape, specifically, and their pizzas.
