The Uptown

Last night in Wadena means I had to make sure I stopped at The Uptown per my informants suggestion. And by informant, I mean the Manager on Duty at the hotel… Just off Jefferson, they are locally known for their Memphis Pulled Pork, Rib Stroganoff AND their killer murals that start on the side of the building and end at the second story sports-themed windows. I loved their Strawberry Fizz (pink lemonade and moscato) so much I could have swam in it. And as for food, I ate my weight in nachos and gorged on the adult mac and cheese. The kind of food that leaves you half asleep before even getting out the door. The perfect send off! Have you ever been here?

OH! P.S. I was on WCCO Radio this morning! You can find a link here!

Sunnybrook Park and Campground

That view! Seriously, look at it! It’s part of Sunnybrook Park; a campground, fishing spot, photo op, recreation area and pseudo petting zoo – I’ll show you that next. I couldn’t believe how beautiful it was when I drove up!

Sunnybrook Park Wadena MNBucketList

Sunnybrook has way more to offer than just pretty landscapes. It is also home to beautiful peacocks, very friendly tame deer and even a few buffalo. They have a 3 1/2 mile black top bike trail that goes to Whitetail Run Golf Course and fishing spots on Whiskey Creek, which flows through Sunnybrook Park. I skipped the recreation and hung out with the animals, go figure. If you are planning on visiting, they are open now until October.

Wadena Original Fresh Freeze Ice Cream

Good morning and welcome to Wadena! When I started out, Wadena bound, I went hunting for sweets. Lo and behold, I found Wadena’s Original Fresh Freeze Ice Cream. It’s never too early for frozen desserts, or at least that’s my opinion. Small town charm with small town prices (super affordable), Fresh Freeze is a summer must. It’s a tiny little places thats menu is so big is takes up half of its walls! Burgers, fries, even fried cauliflower. Thank goodness I don’t live close or I would be here every day! Now, I’m off to visit some buffalo, can you guess where I’m off to?
