When my friend Cindy from high school asked me to come check out her exciting passion project, Short or Tall Eatery & Drink Hall, I jumped at the chance.
Brandon (Another friend from high school) and I headed to Rogers to check SOT out.
Opened in the Spring of 2018, the destination eatery features exposed steel beams and large expanses of glass windows.
I love the juxtaposition of the music videos playing in the background. There is even a two-story garage door that opens up to the modern outdoor patio.
The patio features a massive, 40ft concrete fireplace aptly named Elvis. The building’s shape and color, extensive patio make it an incredible place to see the sunset.
The piece de resistance is the bar’s suspended keg cooler and the insulated beer delivery system supplying the 80 taps. More than 60 beers—52 of which are locally brewed in Minnesota—and four Tattersall cocktails, pre-mixed and specially made for Short or Tall.
There is no question they will quench the thirst of even the pickiest in your group. It is important to note that SOT is 21+ after 3pm.
It is THE beer destination of the northwest burbs. Beer not your thing? SOT also has a full wine list and endless signature house cocktails to choose from.
SOT is a great place for Sunday brunch, which is when we came. Cindy found her favorite in the breakfast pizza and Brandon and I went for the quirky burgers.
You can get them Short (single patty) or Tall (double patty) – just like the namesake suggests.
I’m not usually a burger person but let me tell you, the Sinatra… Wow.
This Italian beauty comes with mozzarella, roasted tomato, arugula, balsamic glaze, basil, and garlic aioli (I got it with the Impossible Burger ). I was all in!
Brandon opted for the State Fair burger; fried cheese curds, smokehouse bacon, beef gravy, and garlic aioli. In all it’s melty goodness!
Fries also come in Short (half lb) or Tall (full lb).
Brandon went for the jerk fries made with homemade jerk seasoning served with spicy pineapple dipping sauce.
I am more of a cheesy salt person so I got the truffle and parmesan fries made with grated parmesan, fresh parsley, truffle oil, and sea salt, with garlic aioli for dipping.
Pro tip: Get the Tin Can Nachos. Presented in a colossal tin can, all the deliciousness spill out on the platter as your server lifts the can, exposing the layers of house fried tortilla chips, queso sauce, jack, and cheddar cheese, peppers and onions, jalapenos, cilantro, sour cream, pico de gallo and salsa roja.
