Whispering Oaks Winery

Food & Drink / Friday, July 1st, 2016

While I am always one to explore and roam about, I figured that the last night of the #mnbucketlist road trip should be filled with relaxation, my best friends and a whole basin of really, really good wine. So, we headed to Whispering Oaks Winery in Melrose and made a night of it. Ever go somewhere that just feels like home? That’s what it’s like at Black Oak Vineyard (and now Whispering Oaks Winery). Owners Chris and Terry Ellering really are the sweetest, most down-to-earth people you’ll ever meet. They were so welcoming that we ended up staying well past closing and got to hear ghost stories of the Palmer House and how much they love what they do. Their labor of love certainly paid off because each of us left with bottles to bring home. I, myself, had picked up a bottle of Serenity. Oh, did I mention that the grapes are grown in their front yard?! The adorable tasting room was Terri’s photography studio and you can still see some of her work displayed on the walls. I’ll post a recap of this whole, crazy, month-long adventure tomorrow! Any favorite stops?
