C.G. Hooks Eatery

Food & Drink / Thursday, June 2nd, 2016

After spending some time taking in the view at Tally’s Dockside, I walked over, and I mean only like 15 steps, to C.G. Hooks Eatery for food. Opened in 2008, the restaurant shares owners with Tally’s but really does its own thing. A Memphis-style BBQ restaurant meets a summer-style Ice Cream Parlor hangout. You can order food at Tally’s and have it brought over from CG’s. Deliciously perfect for hot, unpredictable road trip weather. Famous for their ribs and hot dogs, I was actually more impressed with their dish names; things like Yardbird on a Stick, Tennessee Tacos and Frito Burrito Pie, and I won’t even tell you the Hot Dog names. The ice cream stays up to par too, with names like This $&@! Just Got Serious and Fat Elvis. Oh! Check out the beer tap handles on the ceiling! Not something you see every day! Stay tuned for the next calorie-laden place in White Bear Lake on the #MNBucketListRoadTrip.
