Sometimes you need to retreat to a somewhere beautiful when it’s cold, or when it’s December, or when you feel like it. My ‘somewhere’ is Café Lurcat in Minneapolis. From the incredible ambiance that includes chandeliers (a big favorite of mine), tall candelabras, warm light and intricate details to the beautifully plated urban comfort food, they are everything I could want in a ‘somewhere’. With so many accolades like the Award of Distinction from the Wine Enthusiast, Where To Eat by New York Magazine, Best Burgers MPLS/ST PAUL Magazine, Best Wine Bar and Best Summer Patio by the CITY PAGES and Top Ten Wine Lists by FOOD AND WINE, you really don’t have to take my word for it. It’s also part of D’Amico family of restaurants that include Masa, Parma8200, D’Amico and Sons and Campiello. They are next to Loring Park, the Basilica of Saint Mary and 4 Bells. Known for their impressive wine selection and romantic atmosphere, I do warn that they are more expensive, so plan on dressier attire and reservations, as they are often busy and have areas sectioned off for events. Personal favorite dish? Hard cider caramel cheesecake with apple walnut crumble (did you really expect me to say anything other than dessert?)
