Leif Erickson Park and Rose Garden

Parks & Geology / Thursday, October 16th, 2014

Leif Erickson Just off of Lake Superior is one of the more calming and scenic areas in Duluth. Complete with beautiful flowers, bridges, a fountain, marble gazebo and structures; make it especially picturesque. Its named after Leif Erickson (also spelled as Leif Ericson), who was a Norse explorer who was the first European to land in North America, about 500 years before Columbus. There is a great big statue of him right at the entrance. There is also one of him at the Minnesota State Capitol.
