Chanhassen Pioneer Cemetery

Cemeteries & Graveyards / Monday, August 18th, 2014

Chanhassen Pioneer Cemetery Crossing off another #cemetery from the bucket list tonight. This time, I stopped at Chanhassen Pioneer Cemetery. This one is on my running trail so its one I see all the time. This one in particular has had quite a bit of resident press about it. A few local articles have been written about adding gravesites and cemetery walks with local historians. The reason this one is so popular is because some of the most prominent names in Chanhassen’s history can be found on gravestones (ie. Kelms, Powers and Lymans). The cemetery was formally established in 1861 by early pioneer families. There are more than 600 local residents buried here, the oldest grave dating back to 1855.
