Tony’s Diner

Food & Drink / Wednesday, March 23rd, 2016

You’d be hard-pressed to find another person who loves hole-in-the-wall diners as much as I do, well that is, until you ask around my group of friends. Never short on options for those kinds of spots in Minnesota, Tony’s Diner in Dinkytown is next on the #mnbucketlist. If you are a current University of Minnesota student or recent Alum, you know Tony’s, whose real name is Steak Knife. Open for over 10 years, it is part greasy-spoon, cafeteria style and part, well, something else. Sure, they have the diner favorites from steak and eggs, omelets and French toast to burgers, gyros or hey, you can get a whole chicken. And as a fan of their pancakes, it has diner written all over it for me, but they have a few things that might surprise you. While you get your typical bottomless coffee, you can also get a Summit or Miller pint. Feel free to order at the counter, but you can order online too! Booth seating and breakfast centric, the place also offers free Wi-Fi and is open extra late for all those college nights. And the décor? Think Ski-U-Mah.
