Gordy’s Hi-Hat

Gordy’s Hi-Hat in Cloquet is an up north, must-stop kind of place.

Family-run since it opened, Gordy’s has become the go-to for gingham paper-wrapped burgers and festive, perfectly balanced malts and shakes.

Step right up to the raised counter to place your order for fresh hamburgers, home-made onion rings, and fresh hand-dipped fish.

Open seasonally from 10 am – 8:00 pm every day, Gordy’s really is worth the hype.

Even though they have the fastest counter service you’ve ever seen (and Gordy himself might even take your order!), it is likely you’ll still end up waiting in a line that’ll flow out the door. I promise it will be more than worth the wait.

A bit of history; Duluth natives Gordy and Marilyn Lundquist began their restaurant journey by building the first A & W Root Beer Stand in Eveleth in 1950.

They then ventured the London Inn Drive Inn on London Road in Duluth in 1955.

Finally, building Gordy’s Hi-Hat in Cloquet in 1960.

Recently, they opened Gordy’s Warming House, a coffee and ice cream shop that sits adjacent to the infamous Hi-Hat.

If you are passing through Cloquet, make sure to stop.

It is hard to miss, just look for the boulder painted to look like a lumpy cheeseburger right out front!
