SocialICE

If you are willing the brave the cold, I have something to add to your 2020 #mnbucketlist!

Have you heard of SocialICE? It’s in Downtown Rochester’s Peace Plaza and is THE Minnesota Ice Bar experience!
Free to the public, SocialICE is held annually and takes place in February, in the thick of the Minnesota winter.
You get to get all bundle up and take pictures with the life-sized ice sculptures, hang out by the fire pits and roast s’mores, or make your way to the drinks!

Take in the seven 12-foot uniquely designed and themed ice bars, with signature drinks!

Bar Buffalo went all out with their Jumanji-themed bar complete with rhino ice sculptures.

College dive-bar favorite Dooley’s Pub channeled the Day of the Dead with a skeleton and casket ice display.

Voted Rochester’s Best, Chester’s Kitchen and Bar, which happens to be located adjacent to the Peace Plaza, went all out with their Pirates of the Caribbean bar, including bartenders in full Jack Sparrow and Pirate costumes!

Kathy’s Pub was all the rage due to the Ghostbusters-themed, not to mention the slime and Stay Puft marshmallow man ice sculptures!
For the countless hockey fans out there, The Half Barrel Bar and Kitchen went all out representing the MN Wild.
Martini’s at the Kahler Grand had fun with their take on the Incredibles.
My personal favorite was from The Loop, as they created a VW bus, celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Woodstock.
The nightly Live DJ’s quickly make you forget about the plummeting temps and will have you wondering why more nightclubs don’t let you just wear snow pants.

People-watching is SO much better when people are in snow pants.
Plus, where else could you go to find hot-breath steam rising from the crowd?!
SocialICE FAM JAM is also worth checking out.
Spend a few hours doing theme-inspired, family-friendly activities like a snowy scavenger hunt, snowman yoga, and even visit with Rochester Grizzlies Ice Hockey Team!
Don’t worry, if you get too cold, you can find your way to The Clubhouse, a giant igloo, and play arcade games (presented by Somerby Golf Club).
This post was brought to you by Downtown Rochester, but opinions are all my own. #experiencerochestermn #rochmn #onlyinmn #rochester_MN #downtownrochmn #socialIce
