The Twin Cities 400 Tavern in North Minneapolis is an expansive restaurant and bar inside the Marriot.

Located in an industrial area off of Broadway, the restaurant was formerly Scalzo’s Italian Grille, and prior to that, the Itasca Room at the Ramada Plaza Minneapolis (now the Marriot).

It is named for the Twin Cities 400 passenger train, hailed by Time magazine as “the fastest on the American continent.”

Beginning service in 1935, the 400 not only linked Minneapolis-St. Paul to Chicago, but also became a proud ambassador of the Twin Cities to the world.

You can find subtle nods to the train theme throughout the restaurant, including the use of rails from a railroad for footrests around the bar and a countertop that is made from taconite.

Owned and operated by lifelong Minnesotans and third-generation entrepreneurs.

The Twin Cities 400 offers all kinds of classic American favorites and pub fare; think brick oven pizza, and rotisserie chicken.

They even have their own rotisserie right on site!
