The Dancing Goat

Food & Drink / Thursday, April 11th, 2019

As the story goes, shepherds discovered coffee in Ethiopia circa 800 AD. Legend has it that herders noticed the effect caffeine had on their goats.

They appeared to “dance” after eating coffee berries. A local monk then made a drink with berries and found that it kept him awake at night, thus the original cup of coffee was born.

With that, I give you The Dancing Goat Coffeehouse on East 7th Street, kitty-corner from Metropolitan State University in St Paul.

Famed for their cayenne pepper-laced diablo mocha – if you love spicy, this will be your new go-to.

They also have iced lavender lattes, green dragon espresso, and apple cider, which is my favorite.

The Goat also has an army of bakery case delicacies including candied ginger, fig and oat scones, and carrot cake.

There around lunch instead? Goat has you covered with easy bistro food.

While I go there for the casual, comfortable atmosphere before class, they also have a conference room you can rent.

What is your most beloved coffee shop?
