Borrow-A-Bike

https://www.facebook.com/BorrowABikeNext on the #MNBucketList is Borrow-A-Bike in Pine Island. It’s a program that started in 2009, offering restored and maintained bikes to rent, for free. FREE, although they do accept donations. Perfect for someone like me who doesn’t have a bike and hosts lots of visitors. I can visit the Historic Pine Island’s Paths to the Past or the 12.7 mile Douglas Trail from Pine Island to Rochester without having to run out and buy a bike.  Manned by a handful of volunteers from May 1st to October 31st, they are open every Saturday and Sunday from 10-6. With more than 50 bikes in inventory, they are each checked out by appointment (call Roy, he’s super nice) for the day. The Borrow-A-Bike Shop is located in the Old Butter Factory, right next to the Zumbro River.
