My #throwbackthursday is from this past #Sunday, at the Japanese Lantern Lighting Festival at Como Park Zoo & Conservatory in St Paul. Rebecca invited me as it’s on both of our bucket lists. Having a record breaking turn out, over 15k attendees, the festival was reminiscent of Japan’s annual Obon holiday. It featured art, music, food, martial arts and the cultural traditions. It culminated at dusk with the lantern lighting. The Marjorie McNeely Conservatory glowed in the background as hundreds of floating paper lanterns created a vision of peacefulness and harmony as they moved throughout the Japanese Garden and Frog Pond. Although it was really windy and very crowded, I’m still glad I went.
